How do i make my ventless gas log set more effective?
I’ve got a 36000 BTU ventless gas log set set up in my masonry fire place. A home is a 1300 sqft colonial, so when the fire place is onto it does a good job of keeping the very first floor warm, but because it will get cooler I depend more about the furnace. It will get really warm on the top from the mantal, and so i make use of a fan there to maneuver the nice and cozy air throughout the house. Because it costs a smaller amount to operate the fire place of computer does the furnace, can there be anything I’m able to caused by boost the warmth from the fire place.
One factor I had been thinking about…with no idea if it is possible or worthwhile…is putting something as much as block the flue. It’s presently and try to closed. But I’m not sure just how much heated air can continue to avoid that system….ANY?? Will it be worthwhile to place some form of system inside to bounce the warmth down again?
There isn’t much that you can do. A fire place is really a radiant warmth source, not really a forced air warmth source just like a furnace. So, the warmth just radiates out in to the room in which the fire place is. It might eventually escape into other rooms by convection. But, a fire place is usually only great for heating the immediate room.
I’ve come across blower systems that extract more warmth in the fire place and mess it up in to the room. They are lengthy, curved, a couple of-inch tubes which go along the foot of the fire place, across the back, and the top front from the fire place. A blower at the end blows air with the tubes, that are heated through the fire. These tubes are a warmth exchanger to warmth the incoming air and heat is blown to the area.
